Meet Christian Rixen from Randers, Denmark.

Steel & Stories – Team edition: Christian Rixen from Randers, Denmark.

Beside being a TOKO owner, Christian is a toolmaker and one of the masterminds behind bringing my drawings to life on the CNC´s .

What surprised you the most the first time you carried the TOKO, even though you helped build it?
I was surprised by the TOKO’s weight when I first held it. Despite being only a few grams heavier than a titanium-scaled AROS, it felt remarkably balanced. What’s the point of using titanium if you don’t take advantage of its strength to reduce weight?

If you could hand over a TOKO to anyone, who would it be, and what would you want them to notice?
I’d hand a TOKO to Mike Rowe of Mike Rowe Works. He champions blue-collar craftsmanship and immerses himself in others’ perspectives, so I think he’d appreciate the meticulous effort and time invested in creating the TOKO.

What’s the one tool or piece of gear you’ve had the longest, and why haven’t you replaced it?
After reflecting, I’ve realized I don’t keep most gear for long, as I tend to upgrade regularly. However, my knives are the exception – they’re so well-crafted that replacing them feels nearly impossible.

If you could trade EDC setups with someone from the knife world for a week, who would it be?
I’d trade with John Grimsmo. I’d immediately disassemble his gear to inspect and analyze every detail. John and his team set an exceptionally high standard for quality, which is a constant source of inspiration. I believe he’d also appreciate the craftsmanship in my setup.

How do you store or carry your own gear, and has working at ANSØ of DENMARK changed that?
Honestly, my knife storage is pretty basic – just a simple box. I treat them as tools, maintaining them well but never keeping them as “safe queens.” I scrape plaster, butcher game, cut boxes, sharpen pencils, slice pizza, and everything else with them. Working at ANSØ of Denmark has significantly elevated the quality and value of what I carry daily.

What’s one part of the process you think people would find surprising when they get their TOKO in hand?
I hope people notice the meticulous attention to detail. The TOKO has no “B-side” – the interior is just as beautifully crafted as the exterior. We invested tremendous effort in perfecting every aspect.
