What do you do when youâre not talking knives?
Now that I am 62, I am primarily interested in spending time for myself, including with my wife. When your circle gradually becomes smaller again, it is time to find out exactly who you really are behind all the conventions. All too often, the social system requires us to put on one mask or another and hide or deny our true face (self) behind it. So my ultimate goal is to achieve true authenticity.
The absolute best part of my day is breakfast, but only after 12 noon. I particularly enjoy my homemade organic Earl Grey tea, good honey, and various nut butters on bread.
We live right next to the forest, which leads into the mountains, and we like to spend time walking there or enjoying a refreshing dip in our natural river in summer. In winter, outside of the main rush to the ski resorts, I enjoy hitting the slopes with my skiboards. I also really enjoy designing and building as much as possible myself when it comes to our home furnishings. Oh yes, I enjoy sewing all kinds of things, including leather knife covers, adapted to the respective model, of course.
Which ANSĂ knife do you own â and how did it find its way into your hands?
Over the many years I have been pursuing my knife hobby, I have of course always been familiar with Ansø. But in recent years, as I have been spending less and less of my life in exchange for money, Ansø knives have simply been a little too much of an investment for me.
Nevertheless, a few weeks ago, out of pure curiosity, I took a look at the Ansø website. My attention was immediately drawn to the new model, the Arn. And that was it for me â I had to have this knife. And so it came to pass that a few weeks later, this great little thing found its way into my home.
In the last shop drop, I was lucky enough to get a Toko in the Blade Runner Edition. My second Ansø!
What made you choose this knife in particular?
As described in point two, and as is always the case, a knife immediately appeals to me in such a way that I end up buying it. It was the same with the Arn. And I admit that my taste tends to gravitate toward high-quality knives.
The facts about the Arn are available to read and promise a solid and durable product. But then holding it in my hands was just âwowâ! Workmanship, feel, appearance, sharpness, materials, and function â everything is top-notch!
What else do you carry every day?
Although I have accumulated numerous flashlights over the years, in addition to a some ;-) knives, I prefer to go out with as few things as possible. Depending on where I am going, I always put the right things in my bag.
However, my experience has taught me that I am usually best equipped with a versatile tool. For example, it is important for me to have a nail file with me. Various Victorinox/Wenger models meet all these requirements for me. I have also been using a small Classic for years to shred cardboard.
And letâs be honest, in this day and age, are there really any challenges for modern high-performance knives? (Except for special ones, such as hunters, etc.)
Regardless, all these great knives still fill me with joy, and I love having them around the house, almost as decoration or furnishings, to play with or test their sharpness whenever I feel like it.
Do you have an EDC tip or habit you think more people should know about?
Keep it simple and limit it to what is necessary.
