Ruud crossed two borders to pick up the TOKO.

What’s the one thing you never expected about the TOKO until you started carrying it?
The smoothness of deploying the blade and the button lock. As well as all the little details. The Skiff ceramic caged bearings are an absolute treat, complementing the quality of the knife. After handling the knife for a while, you appreciate the work and thought that went into designing it. The inverted line in front of the handle, every corner that is chamfered, and the internal milling in a "mud track" design. All these little details add up to a great piece of art that is practical too.
Because I use my knives – no safe queens in my collection.
If you could gift a TOKO to anyone, living or historical, who would it be and why?
My brother. Because he appreciates good design and the hard work that goes along with it. He collects high-quality watches, like I’m into high-quality knives. (Never go into watches 😉)
What’s the most sentimental piece of EDC gear you own, and why?
My first knife, which I got from my parents when I was 6 years old – and the TOKO.
I made the trip to Denmark (an 800 km drive) with my wife to pick up the TOKO at the Launch 16 event. For a knife nerd like me, talking to Jens, his family, and his team was a real experience.
If you could swap EDC setups with anyone for a week, whose would you choose?
I think it would be Tim Reeve (@chrisreeveknives). He sometimes carries new CRK prototypes.
(Curious to know which new knife is in the making.)
How do you organize or display your EDC gear when it’s not in use?
I have a Nanuk case completely covered with knife stickers, where I keep my knives safe and organized.
I also have a nice oak shelf in the living room where I display my Ansø knives.
And one in the pocket, of course.
Oh – I almost forgot…
In my spare time, I am a professional knife sharpener. The TOKO has one of the best edges I’ve seen.
