Meet Travis Wainwright, aka @‌tbabyedc, Portland, Oregon, USA 👋

Two things I appreciate a lot are the EDC community, which connects people across counties and countries, and my customers' loyalty and support for my work. It means the world to me. Being able to use my platforms to create a small corner of this world to highlight some of those passionate people is a no-brainer.

Let’s get to it!

What’s the one thing you never expected about the TOKO until you started carrying it?

If I can only pick one aspect, it would have to be the action. I've handled many button lock knives, including the AROS, but never one with such an effortlessly snappy deployment that seamlessly and perfectly falls into place upon closing, with no bounce whatsoever. Also, the milling has a wonderful tactile feel, and the clip is absolutely brilliantly designed. Okay, I cheated – that’s three!

If you could gift a TOKO to anyone, living or historical, who would it be and why?

Hattori Hanzo seems like a pretty appropriate recipient of this amazing blade.

What’s the most sentimental piece of EDC gear you own, and why?

That would have to be my Shank Sharpeners Union OG coin. The SSU has been the cornerstone of my EDC journey since it started, and that coin is a precious reminder of that community spirit.

If you could swap EDC setups with anyone for a week, whose would you choose?

I’d definitely swap with Samson Tran (aka @‌raven_the_pirate), because he seemingly has every knife and piece of gear in existence. It would take longer than a week to peruse the collection, though!

How do you organize or display your EDC gear when it’s not in use?

I’m actually in the process of slimming down my collection to only pieces I actively use and carry regularly. I have a set of slim drawers that house what is not currently on my person at any given time, and the goal is to only have enough to fill the drawers.

Oh – I almost forgot...

The best piece of advice I can think of is to try to cultivate a daily meditation practice. Even just a few minutes a day, first thing in the morning, opens up so much potential for growth and enjoyment. Human life is a precious gift, and the more we stay aware of that, the more enriching it can be!
