Introducing the ARN
I'm proud to present the ARN — the newest model and third folder in my Shop Built collection. We showed this at the Blade Show a couple weeks ago for the first time and now you get to own one!

The ARN is a slipjoint folder that features the same double-detent system as my Monte Carlo and Casino custom models. This mechanism securely holds the blade both open and closed without a traditional lock, offering a compliant and safe everyday carry option in most regions.

What sets the ARN apart is its ultra-low-profile flipper. I used to call it a front flipper, but after a few corrections, I now simply call it a flipper. It’s discreet, intuitive, and keeps the silhouette clean.

The handle incorporates a precision-machined T-slot inlay system. A single screw secures the ambidextrous titanium clip. When the clip is removed, both inlays can be slid out for quick, tool-free exchange. A small titanium insert (available later) can replace the clip, locking the inlays in place and preserving visual symmetry.

While the knives offered today are prototypes, the core geometry is finalized. Future configurations will include two blade styles — a flipper or a nail-nick opener — and two backspacer variants, with or without a lanyard hole. These modular options allow users to customize their ARN to suit their preferences. The official launch date for the ARN is till to be decided

Most importantly, the inlay system is a key feature. We'll be offering a wide range of inlay materials going forward, enabling even deeper personalization.

This particular Proto Type ARN is made with Amber scales and Richlite inlay. Its marked AP 016 (Artist Proof)
