A modern Scandinavian fixed blade
BIRK started as my take on the classic Scandinavian fixed blade. Simple, useful and made to be carried.
The inspiration comes from the traditional puukko, but the design language is clearly ANSØ. Clean lines, practical details and a handle construction made for real use, not just for display.
The name BIRK means birch tree in Danish, and it also happens to be the name of our first grandson. So this design carries both a Scandinavian reference and a personal one.
Made for real use
BIRK is designed as a capable fixed blade for everyday use, outdoor tasks and cold climate carry.
The knife has the control and reliability you expect from a fixed blade, but with a modern ANSØ approach to materials, ergonomics and details. It is simple in expression, but carefully considered in hand.
VANAX Blade
BIRK comes with a blade in VANAX steel. VANAX gives BIRK a modern performance foundation and makes it a strong choice for a knife that is meant to be used, carried and depended on.
Developed specifically for demanding applications, VANAX combines exceptional corrosion resistance with high toughness and excellent edge stability. It is designed to withstand harsh environments while maintaining reliable cutting performance, making it equally at home in the outdoors, around water and in everyday use.

Front-Wrapped Full Tang Construction
BIRK features what I call a Front-Wrapped Full Tang construction.
Instead of simply attaching handle scales to the sides of the tang, the Micarta wraps around the front of the knife where your hand naturally applies the most pressure. The result is a more secure, comfortable grip while eliminating the exposed steel edges that are often felt during hard use.
It is a construction I developed myself and have previously used on only one other knife.
Secure Grip, Even in Cold Conditions
The front of the handle features deep machined grip zones that provide excellent traction without creating uncomfortable hot spots.
The knife feels locked into your hand when maximum control is needed, while remaining comfortable during prolonged use.
This becomes especially noticeable in cold or wet conditions, where grip and confidence matter most.
Canvas Micarta Handle
BIRK is available with either Black Canvas Micarta or Natural Canvas Micarta handle scales.
Canvas Micarta offers excellent grip in both dry and wet conditions, is highly durable and develops character with use while requiring virtually no maintenance.
Removable Handle Scales
The handle scales are attached using titanium screws, making them easy to remove.
They are fully interchangeable, allowing you to swap between different Micarta colours or replace a worn set after years of hard use.

For those who prefer a more traditional way of carrying a fixed blade, BIRK is available with a premium leather sheath.
Each leather sheath is handcrafted for us by TRC Knives, combining their renowned craftsmanship with a design developed specifically for BIRK.
The leather sheath combines classic Scandinavian aesthetics with practical everyday function. It offers secure retention, protects the blade and develops a unique patina over time that reflects years of use.
Designed for comfortable belt carry, it keeps BIRK close at hand whether you’re in the woods, around camp or simply going about your day.
